Why faces deflate
Aging is not only wrinkling. The fat pads that give a young face its curve shrink and slide downward, the bone underneath resorbs and changes shape, and the ligaments holding everything in place loosen. The result is flatness in the upper face and heaviness in the lower face, which is why someone can look tired without having a single deep line. Understanding it as a structural change is what makes the right treatment obvious.
Where people notice it first
Under the eyes, where a hollow reads as permanent tiredness whatever you do about sleep. In the temples, where the loss is subtle and rarely identified by the person it is happening to. Across the cheekbone, where flattening drops the midface. And along the jawline, where lost support in the chin and jaw lets the outline blur. Tear troughs are the most requested and the most technically demanding of these, and not everyone is a candidate.
Replace it or rebuild it
Two routes. Hyaluronic acid filler replaces volume the day it is placed and can be dissolved if you dislike the result. Sculptra and Radiesse stimulate your own collagen so the support that returns is your tissue, arriving gradually over months. Filler suits a specific area you want corrected now. Collagen stimulators suit broad, diffuse loss and people who want the change to arrive quietly. Plenty of plans use both on different parts of the face.

Why overfilling happens
Filling the place that looks hollow is often the wrong move. A flat cheekbone drags the midface down, and the fold beside the mouth is frequently the consequence rather than the problem. Treating the consequence means adding product to an area that was never the cause, and repeating that across several visits is how faces end up looking heavy and unfamiliar. Assessing the whole face and treating the origin uses less product, not more.
