Lip filler adds shape, definition and hydration using hyaluronic acid gel placed in small, controlled amounts. We treat lips at our Boca Raton med spa and size the result to your face rather than to whatever is trending, which usually means less product than people expect on a first visit. Most people who say they want fuller lips actually want better shape. Definition along the border, a clearer cupid's bow, support at the corners so the mouth does not turn down, and balance between the top and bottom lip all change how a mouth reads without adding obvious size. Volume is one tool among several, and it is rarely the first one we reach for.
A single syringe is a common starting point, and for many people it is also the finish. Building over two appointments a few weeks apart lets swelling settle so you are judging the real result rather than the reaction to treatment. Lips also stretch: repeated overfilling changes the tissue over time in ways that are hard to walk back. Going slowly is not us being cautious for the sake of it.

You talk, eat and drink with them all day, and constant movement breaks filler down faster here than in a static area like the cheekbone. Expect lip filler to need topping up sooner than filler placed elsewhere on the face. Your injector will give you a realistic interval at consultation.

Strong numbing cream goes on first and sits for around 20 minutes, and the filler itself contains lidocaine. Injections take about 10 to 15 minutes. Lips swell more than any other area we treat, and they will look larger than the final result for the first two to three days. Bruising is common. By two weeks the filler has settled and what you see is what you have.
More than you are expecting, and it peaks on day two. Lips are one of the most reactive areas on the face. Most of it is gone within three to five days, and the filler settles by two weeks.
Not if the amount suits your face. Overfilled lips get noticed because they no longer match everything around them. One syringe, placed with attention to shape rather than size, usually reads as a good night's sleep rather than a treatment.

Yes. Hyaluronic acid lip filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you do not like the result or if a correction is needed.
Lips are sensitive, so we numb properly first and use products containing lidocaine. Most people find it very manageable. Tell your injector if you are anxious about it, because there is more we can do for comfort.
