RF Skin Resurfacing in Boca Raton, FL

Radiofrequency heats the deeper skin to build collagen, firming mild laxity and smoothing texture and fine lines.

Radiofrequency resurfacing heats the deeper layers of the skin to a temperature that triggers collagen production, which firms and smooths over the months that follow. We perform RF at our Boca Raton med spa for mild to moderate laxity, texture and fine lines, under medical supervision. Most people need a short series. Book a consultation or read about loose or sagging skin.

Heat, not light

This is the practical difference between RF and IPL or laser. Light-based devices are absorbed by pigment, which is why tanned skin complicates them. Radiofrequency energy passes through the surface and heats the tissue underneath regardless of skin color. That makes RF one of the safer options across the full range of skin tones, and it is why it is often the recommendation when pigment risk rules other devices out.

The result arrives late

You may see a mild tightening in the days after a session from the immediate effect of heat on existing collagen, but that is not the treatment. The real change is new collagen, and collagen takes months to build and remodel. Judging RF at two weeks is judging it before it has happened. Expect to assess the result several months after finishing your series.

What it will and will not do

It works on mild to moderate laxity: early jowling, a softening jawline, crepey texture, fine lines. It does not replace a facelift, and it cannot lift skin that has lost its structure entirely. Where the real issue is lost volume rather than lost tone, filler or a collagen stimulator like Sculptra will do more. Anyone who tells you a device delivers a surgical result is overselling, and part of a consultation is being told plainly which category you are in.

What to expect

Skin is cleansed and a conductive gel is applied. The handpiece is moved across the area while it brings the tissue up to the target temperature, which feels like a deep, building warmth. Sessions run around 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area. Afterward skin is pink and warm for a few hours. There is no peeling and no real downtime, so people commonly go straight back to work.

Aftercare

  • Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen.
  • Skip saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga and hot showers for 24 hours.
  • Pause retinoids and acids for a couple of days.
  • Keep to your series spacing; the collagen response depends on it.
  • Assess your result months after the series, not weeks.
Have a question?

RF Skin Resurfacing questions people actually ask

How long until I see results from RF resurfacing?

Months rather than weeks. Any early tightening is a heat effect. The real change is new collagen, which builds and remodels over an extended period after the series finishes.

Is RF safe for darker skin tones?

It is generally one of the safer energy treatments across skin tones, because radiofrequency heats tissue rather than being absorbed by pigment the way light-based devices are. Your provider will still assess your skin and history before treating.

Does it replace a facelift?

No. It addresses mild to moderate laxity. If the amount of loose skin is beyond that, we will tell you directly and suggest a surgical consultation rather than sell you a series that will disappoint.

How many sessions do I need?

A short series is typical, spaced to allow the collagen response to develop. The exact number depends on the area and the degree of laxity and is set at consultation.

Is there downtime?

Essentially none. Skin is pink and warm for a few hours. There is no peeling, which is one reason people choose RF over more aggressive resurfacing.
