Waxing in Boca Raton, FL

Professional waxing from brows to Brazilian, performed with attention to comfort and hygiene.

Waxing removes hair from the root, which leaves skin smooth for weeks rather than days and works on every hair color, including the gray, blonde and red hair that laser cannot treat. We wax the face and body at our Boca Raton location and can book it alongside your other appointments in the same visit. Book an appointment or compare it with laser hair removal.

When waxing beats laser

Laser finds hair by its pigment, so it does very little for gray, white, red or very fine blonde hair. Waxing does not care what color the hair is. It is also the answer if you want smooth skin now rather than a result built over a course of sessions, if you are pregnant, or if you are on a medication that rules laser out. Neither treatment is better in the abstract; they answer different questions.

Let it grow first

Wax needs something to grip. Hair that is too short will not lift, and the appointment ends up being half a treatment. Roughly a quarter of an inch, or about two to three weeks of growth, is the working guide. Do not shave in the run-up, because shaving resets the growth cycle and makes regrowth patchier, which then makes the next wax less clean.

It gets easier

Repeated waxing on a consistent schedule weakens the follicle over time, so growth comes back finer and slower, and appointments become less uncomfortable. Waxing when you happen to think of it does not produce that. The people who find waxing genuinely easy are the ones on a rhythm.

Sun, retinoids and skin that lifts

Wax can lift sun-damaged or chemically exfoliated skin along with the hair. Do not book a wax onto sunburned skin, and tell us if you use tretinoin, a prescription retinoid or strong acids, or if you have had a recent chemical peel. On the upper lip and brow especially, retinoid-thinned skin can tear. That is a question we ask every time rather than a formality.

What suits you is decided at consultation, from your skin and your history. Consultations are complimentary.

What to expect

The area is cleansed and prepped, wax is applied in the direction of growth and removed against it, and the skin is soothed afterward. Each pull is brief. Skin is pink for a few hours and occasionally shows small raised bumps at the follicles, which settle. Facial areas take a few minutes; larger body areas take longer.

Aftercare

  • No sun, tanning beds or self-tanner on the area for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Skip hot showers, saunas, steam and heavy workouts for 24 hours.
  • Do not exfoliate for 48 hours, then exfoliate gently to prevent ingrown hairs.
  • Keep the area clean and avoid heavy products or fragrance for a day.
  • Rebook on a schedule rather than waiting for full regrowth.
Have a question?

Waxing questions people actually ask

How long does hair need to be for waxing?

About a quarter of an inch, which is roughly two to three weeks of growth. Shorter than that and the wax cannot grip, so the result is patchy.

Should I shave between appointments?

Better not to. Shaving resets the growth cycle and makes regrowth uneven, which makes the next wax less effective. Letting it grow to length gives a much cleaner result.

Does waxing hurt less over time?

For most people, yes, particularly on a consistent schedule. The follicle weakens with repeated waxing, so hair returns finer and appointments get easier.

Can I wax if I use retinol or tretinoin?

Tell your provider first. Retinoids thin the outer skin, and waxing over it can lift or tear the skin, especially on the lip and brow. You will usually be asked to stop for a period beforehand.

How do I avoid ingrown hairs?

Wait 48 hours, then exfoliate the area gently and regularly, and keep the skin moisturized. Wearing loose clothing after a body wax helps too.
